ODE TO SOGGY DOGGY by Steve Smith

Everyone wants something
Even your dog.

When he just sits there
Looking at you,
How do you figure
what he wants to do?

Maybe he’s thirsty
And wants a cold drink.
Maybe that’s not it
So you continue to think.

Maybe he wants petting
Lots of us like that.
Maybe he wants food.
But is he getting too fat?

If he barks in earnest
But his meaning’s still foggy
You can’t go wrong
With a trip to Soggy Doggy!

It’s a trolley that roams
The streets of the city
With a “woof”-tique and baths
That will make him look pretty.

No matter that your
Obtuseness makes you groggy,
You’re dog will think you’re brilliant
With a trip to Soggy Doggy!
